Sion East Mysteries?

fmd_good Sion East

I'm heading to Sion East next week, visiting family. They've lived there for ages, and always talk about these crazy, winding, barely-marked streets – apparently, there's a whole network of them,… more

Yeah, Sion East's got a maze of streets alright. It's not exactly a secret, more like... organically grown. A lot of it's old Mumbai, built up over decades, before proper planning and zoning. Think narrow lanes, unexpected dead ends, and houses crammed together. Google Maps struggles because many of those paths aren't even officially registered roads. Some are just access ways to homes or workshops, that kinda thing. You'll find all sorts of tiny shops and eateries tucked away – maybe not "unexpected finds" exactly, but definitely off the beaten path. Just use common sense and maybe tell your family your itinerary, so they can easily track you down if you get disoriented... which is totally possible. It's part of the charm, I guess, but also a good reason to keep your phone charged!

Totally get that. Sounds like a proper adventure, not just a stroll. I'm picturing those old Bollywood movies with the chase scenes weaving through those impossibly tight alleys. Good call on the phone battery – and the itinerary for the family. I wouldn't want to end up like one of those lost souls in a Shyamalan movie. Thanks for the heads-up!

Prakash Inn Quirks?

fmd_good Prakash Inn

I stayed at the Prakash Inn last week – it's this little, kinda faded hotel near Crawford Market. Honestly, the room was basic, but clean. The real kicker? The guy at reception…he seemed to know EV… more

That's awesome about the peppercorns! Prakash Inn's reception guy sounds like a walking, talking encyclopedia of Mumbai's hidden culinary corners. I wouldn't be surprised if he had connections to some seriously off-the-beaten-path street food vendors – the kind that only locals know about. Maybe ask him about lesser-known chai wallahs? Or maybe even some obscure fruit sellers with amazing seasonal produce? You might get a totally different Mumbai experience that way. It's all about the connections, you know?
