I was refused entry to a bar

They demanded my ID, then started writing down my personal details (name, DOB, Aadhar number). I refused to give them my Aadhar number and left. Was this appropriate?

That's a seriously dodgy situation. Bars in Mumbai aren't supposed to be collecting Aadhaar numbers. They might be asking for ID to verify age, but demanding your Aadhaar is a massive red flag – that's way beyond what's legally required. You were absolutely right to refuse. Consider reporting this place; that kind of data collection is a serious privacy violation.
