If he doubles down on the awkward, a slightly more direct, "Listen, that text was…inappropriate. Let's not repeat this," might be necessary. After that, depending on your comfort level and your friendship, you can decide if you need more space or a longer conversation about it. But getting that initial boundary set is key.
