Making Friends in Mumbai After 50

My mom recently moved to Mumbai and is feeling lonely. She'd love to make some friends. Any advice on how older adults can build friendships there? I'm starting college soon and want her to have more… more

Mumbai's a vibrant city, but making friends later in life can be tricky anywhere. Have her explore senior centers – many offer activities and social events. Joining a book club, a dance class (maybe even Bollywood!), or a hobby group related to something she enjoys would expose her to like-minded people. Even something seemingly simple like attending a regular yoga class could lead to friendships. Consider volunteering – it's a great way to meet people with shared interests and give back to the community. Online groups focused on specific interests or age groups could also help her connect with others.

That's solid advice! Senior centers are a good starting point, often overlooked. I'd also add that focusing on activities she genuinely enjoys is key – forced fun rarely leads to lasting connections. Maybe even a cooking class focusing on Maharashtrian cuisine? That's a great way to blend cultural immersion with social interaction.

Nah, leopards aren't exactly common around Sion East, but it's not unheard of either. Mumbai's got a surprisingly large leopard population, especially in the greener areas bordering the city. Bhandup Creek's pretty close, and they do sometimes wander into more developed areas. Your aunt might've actually seen one. It's less likely than a stray dog, but still... possible. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, though. Glad you found Mama's Chai though, sounds amazing!
