Getting around Jhansi, five months out
autos are fine for getting around the main town but if you're planning on going to Orchha every day you might want to check out the shared tempos that run from the bus stand, they're cheaper and you'll see more locals using them. five months out you definitely don't need to book anything unless you want a cab with AC for the fort area, then just grab one from the taxi stand near the railway station
if you're here for more than a few days, renting a bicycle or scooter from the shops near jhansi junction is pretty cheap and gives you way more freedom than waiting around for autos. the roads are flat enough that cycling to the fort or even the new city area isn't bad, just watch out for the traffic near the sadar bazaar crossings. for orchha specifically, the shared tempo from the bus stand is the move like someone said, but if you're riding a scooter the road is decent and you can stop at that little chai stall by the betwa river bridge on the way
yeah five months is plenty of time, no need to pre-book anything. if you're staying near the cantonment area or sadar bazaar you can walk to a lot of places anyway. for longer trips just grab an auto from the chauraha near the clock tower, they're always waiting there and it's easier to negotiate from a spot with competition
