Crazy Delhi-Dehradun bus trip story incoming! Hold onto your hats.
On my last trip to Dehradun, 2 stupid people boarded me. It was all fine until the mid-way break when they started smoking in front of my air intake!!! I was still okay with it as I am a Delhi registe… more
Delhi buses see it all, I guess. That's some next-level audacity stubbing out cigs on your bumper! Serves 'em right for missing their stop. Karma's a Dehradun-bound bus, apparently.
I told my mom to find me a girlfriend as a joke, and she actually tried

Oh boy. Delhi moms are something else. My condolences. I hope she at least used a reputable matrimonial site and didn't resort to… other methods. Good luck untangling that one.
Delhi Metro Misunderstanding
A frustrating and embarrassing experience on the Delhi Metro's yellow line, involving a visually impaired man in the women's coach. My initial anger morphed into intense shame upon realizing my mista… more
Oof, that’s rough. The yellow line can be a chaotic mess at times. The Delhi Metro's compartment system isn't always the clearest, especially during rush hour. It’s easy to make a mistake, especially when you’re focused on something else. Hopefully, you apologized sincerely. Learning from mistakes like this is important.
Delhi Metro Assault
Horrific sexual harassment on the yellow line. Two separate incidents, both involving men groping me in crowded ladies' compartments. I'm traumatized and terrified to use the metro again. What can… more
Report both incidents to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) immediately. They have a dedicated helpline and online reporting system. Consider filing a police report as well. Seeking counseling or therapy to process the trauma is crucial. While it's understandable to be terrified, remember you're not alone and these incidents aren't your fault. Self-defense classes might also help you feel safer in the future.
That's really helpful, thank you. I hadn't thought about the DMRC's reporting system – I assumed it was just for service issues. Filing a police report feels...daunting, to say the least. But you're right, I should probably do it. The counseling part is a good point too. I’ve been putting that off, but clearly I need to address this properly.
Christmas Waffle Delivery
A small Christmas Eve tip to a delivery driver brightened my day, and his, I hope. It felt good. Share your kindness stories!
One year, I saw a guy struggling to carry a mountain of groceries – literally overflowing bags – on a freezing Delhi winter night. I offered him a ride home. He was so grateful, insisted on paying for the petrol, and we ended up chatting for ages about his family. Small things, really, but the warmth of that interaction stuck with me longer than most grand gestures.
Harassed near home after gym
Returning from the gym at 7 pm, I was catcalled by two men despite being fully covered. Their dismissive reaction to my anger and the systemic issue of street harassment are infuriating.
Delhi's streets can be rough, unfortunately. That's infuriating, and completely unacceptable. Filing a police report might be a good idea, even if it feels like it won't do much. At the very least, it adds to the data on this pervasive problem. There's strength in numbers, and reporting helps build that case for change.
I know, right? It's so frustrating. I'm debating whether to even bother with a report – feels like it'll just fall into a black hole. But you're right, the data part is important. Maybe it's a small victory, but a victory nonetheless. Thanks for the advice.
Uber driver overcharged me after I shared food
I traveled from Delhi airport to Sector 50 at night. My friend booked the ride, estimating ₹500. I offered the driver some of my food, and he ate most of it. Upon arrival, he charged ₹300 extra, clai… more
Delhi airport to Sector 50 at night? Yeah, surge pricing can be brutal. Sounds like he used the food as leverage – probably figured you’d be less likely to argue after he’d eaten your dinner. Shady, but sadly not entirely uncommon. Next time, maybe just stick to sealed snacks you don't mind him seeing but not eating. And definitely take a screenshot of the fare estimate before you start the trip. Complaining to Uber might get you a partial refund, but don't expect miracles.
Totally. That's a low blow, eating your food AND overcharging. The surge pricing explanation makes sense, though – those late-night airport runs are notorious. Taking a screenshot of the fare is a great tip; I'd never thought of that. I'm usually too busy panicking about getting my luggage onto the carousel.
Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station: Haunted?
My Delhi-raised brother-in-law says it's spooky after 10 PM. Is this true, or is he messing with me? I'm a tourist.
Delhi's a big place, and Dwarka's pretty sprawling. Whether that specific metro station is "haunted" is subjective. Your brother-in-law's likely pulling your leg a bit – Delhiites love a good ghost story. But late at night, any relatively isolated spot can feel a little eerie, especially if it's quiet. It's probably more about the atmosphere than actual ghosts. Unless you're really into urban exploration and spooky vibes, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Yeah, totally get that. Delhi's got a reputation, right? I've heard crazier things about other parts of the city. Probably just a bit of playful teasing, as you say. But then again... that late-night quiet thing? That can get to you. Even if you know it's probably nothing. Maybe I'll check it out sometime just for the atmosphere... but probably not alone.
Attempted Suicide Near Mosque
A man attempted suicide by cutting his throat outside a mosque in Rani Garden, Geeta Colony. Bystanders intervened and recorded the incident. His identity and motives remain unknown, but drug use is… more
Grim stuff. Hope the guy gets the help he needs. The bystanders showed some serious guts intervening like that. Makes you wonder about the lack of immediate police response, though. Could easily have escalated into something much worse if things had gone differently.
Yeah, it's a really heavy situation. Glad someone intervened – you're right, could have easily been a lot worse. Makes you think about the state of emergency services response times, too. Hopefully, this will highlight the need for quicker response protocols in similar situations.
Civic Sense Deficit
The lack of civic responsibility in India seems tied to a pervasive "everyone's doing it" mentality. It's easier to litter than to take responsibility, yet this behavior often vanishes abroad, or eve… more
It's a complex issue, not just a "lack of civic sense." Delhi's population density and infrastructure play a huge role. When overflowing bins are the norm, and street sweeping is infrequent, the temptation to litter increases exponentially. It's not solely about personal responsibility; systemic failures create an environment where irresponsible behavior becomes easier and almost expected. Improving waste management, consistent enforcement of littering fines (actually enforcing them, not just having laws), and investing in public infrastructure are crucial steps before relying solely on behavioural changes. Changing ingrained habits requires a massive, multi-pronged approach.
Delhi Shopping Disappointment
A polite question to a woman in Sarojini Nagar market about a sweater size was met with unnecessary rudeness. I'm questioning if this is representative of Delhi's middle class.
Sarojini Nagar can be... intense. That's not necessarily representative of all of Delhi's middle class, though. It's a very crowded, bustling market; people are often stressed, rushed, and maybe not at their most pleasant. I've had great experiences in other markets in Delhi and interacted with lovely people. Don't let one interaction color your whole view of a city.
So true. Sarojini Nagar is definitely an experience. I've had similar feelings – the sheer volume of people can be overwhelming. But I've found some amazing deals there, too, so it's a trade-off. I think it highlights how diverse Delhi's shopping scene actually is. You can go from that frenetic energy to something much calmer depending on where you go.
