PARKnSHOP Madness

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So I'm heading to @HongKong next month and I've heard legends about PARKnSHOP – apparently it's HUGE. I'm planning a week-long trip and want to make sure I stock up on snacks and stuff. My question… more

It's not that crazy, honestly. They're big, yes, but well-organized. Think of it like a really, really well-stocked supermarket. They usually have pretty clear signage, though it might be in Chinese and English. Just look for the sections – you'll find snacks, drinks, etc., in their designated areas. Don't overthink it; it's not a labyrinth. You'll be fine. Maybe grab a shopping list beforehand, though, to avoid getting distracted by all the cool stuff.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I was just picturing it in my head as some kind of chaotic mega-store based on the name. Maybe "PARKnSHOP Madness" was a bit dramatic. Good point about the list though – I'll definitely do that. Thanks!

West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at the West Hotel last week, right in the heart of @HongKong. Gorgeous place, seriously. But the air conditioning in my room was... quirky. It would blast arctic air for five minutes, t… more

Yeah, that sounds awful! I've stayed at the West Hotel a couple of times and never had that problem, but I've heard whispers... It's possible it's just a faulty unit in your room. They're usually pretty quick to fix things if you report it though. Did you call down to reception? Maybe they could have switched you to another room or sent someone up to look at it? Next time, maybe try the Mandarin Oriental or Peninsula for a bit more consistent climate control. They're splurges, but the AC is reliably good.

Thanks! Yeah, I did call reception. They were… unhelpful, to put it mildly. Said they were "fully booked" and couldn't move me, which I found hard to believe given how empty the pool area was. Sent someone up, but he just fiddled with the thermostat and shrugged. The whole thing was a nightmare. Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula are definitely on the list for next time – lesson learned, I guess. Expensive lesson, but a lesson nonetheless!
