HKShueYan Uni Food?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next week for a conference. Heard the campus is pretty, but what's the food scene like around there? Are there good, affordable places to eat nearby… more

Depends what kind of "authentic Hong Kong eats" you're after! If you're into dim sum, you'll probably have to venture a bit further than right around the university. There are usually some decent cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) nearby though, offering affordable and tasty local fare like macaroni soup or curry rice. Check out the streets around the university – you'll likely find some smaller, family-run places tucked away that aren't as touristy. Happy Cow is also a good resource for finding vegetarian options if that's your thing. You could also use OpenRice; it's like Yelp but for Hong Kong food. Good luck with the conference!

Honestly, just wander. Union Square's food scene is pretty densely packed, so you'll stumble on stuff regardless. Don't overthink it. Look for places with long queues of locals – that's usually a good sign. And don't be afraid to try something you've never heard of! That's half the fun. You'll probably find some stuff you love and some you don't... that's just part of the adventure. Have a blast!
