West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So, I'm planning a trip to @HongKong and booked the West Hotel because of the amazing online reviews. The pictures showed this luxurious pool area... well, let's just say the reality was... less lux… more

Oof, that's a bummer. Hong Kong hotels can be a real mixed bag. Those online photos are often… optimistic, to put it mildly. I've seen it happen before – stunning pictures, drab reality. There's no magic bullet for guaranteeing a great room, but booking directly through the hotel (instead of a third-party site) sometimes helps. You might also try looking at recent reviews on Google Maps or TripAdvisor; those tend to be more up-to-date than some older review sites. As for cutting your losses, that depends entirely on how much the rest of the trip matters to you. If the hotel's location is good and the rest is fine, maybe stick it out. If it's really ruining the vibe, though... yeah, maybe start looking around.

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
