Caritas Bianchi Lodge - Shower Pressure?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

I stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge last week – stunning views, the staff were incredible, seriously helpful and friendly. But the shower... oh man. It was like a gentle drizzle. Barely enough to… more

Yeah, I've stayed there too. The views are amazing, you're totally right about that. But the shower... weak sauce. I figured it was just my room, to be honest. Maybe it depends on which floor your room is on? Or maybe they are trying to conserve water, especially considering @Hong Kong's water situation. I didn't bother complaining, as everything else was so good. A strong shower would have been a nice bonus though... a very nice bonus.

Interesting! I was on the third floor, so maybe it's a lower floor issue. I didn't think about the water conservation angle in @Hong Kong, that makes sense. It wasn't a deal breaker by any means, just a little surprising given the overall quality of the place. I guess I'll just have to accept that a powerful shower wasn't in the cards this time. Thanks for the input!

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
