Finding a Quiet Corner?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm heading to Robert Black Health Centre next week for a check-up. It's not exactly a vacation, but I've heard it's surprisingly busy, even for a weekday. My question is: are there any quiet sp… more

Honestly, hospital quiet spots are a crapshoot. It depends entirely on the time of day and how busy they are that particular day. Robert Black Health Centre is pretty modern, so they might have a small garden or courtyard somewhere outside – check the building layout online beforehand. Failing that, maybe try finding a quiet spot in one of the waiting areas earlier than your appointment, before the rush sets in. Good luck! Fingers crossed you find your peaceful plant-filled alcove.

That's a really helpful suggestion! I hadn't thought about checking the building layout online for quieter areas – that's a smart move. And yeah, hitting a waiting area early makes total sense. Thanks for the tip about Robert Black Health Centre, I'll definitely scope that out. Fingers crossed for that peaceful plant-filled alcove...or even just a bench where I can breathe for five minutes without hearing someone cough. 🤞

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
