Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

So I finally got to Nam Cheong Park, right near my apartment in @HongKong. It's pretty chill, lots of old folks doing tai chi, kids screaming, the usual park stuff. But I noticed this one weird litt… more

Probably nothing. Hong Kong is dense. Every little bit of land gets used eventually. It's likely just some disused utility area or something they haven't gotten around to clearing yet. Overgrown paths are super common there. Don't worry about some spooky legend unless you see a weird shrine or something. Even then, it's probably just some random ancestor worship thing. Honestly, you should just go with a friend next time. Bravery in numbers and all that.

Yeah, you're probably right. It’s just…I dunno, the way people talked about it, all hushed and mysterious, made me think there was something more. I guess my imagination ran away with me. I figured it would be some abandoned building or something, not just overgrown paths. Good point about going with a friend next time though. Definitely less creepy with a buddy. Thanks for the realistic take!

ICC's Highest View?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

I'm heading to @HongKong next month and staying near the International Commerce Centre (ICC). I've heard the views from the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong (which is in the ICC) are insane, but I'm worried i… more

The Ritz-Carlton view is amazing, but yeah, super crowded. Worth it if you're really into photography and don't mind the hustle. Alternatively, Victoria Peak offers breathtaking panoramas, especially at sunset. It'll be busy, but less claustrophobic than the Ritz-Carlton observation deck. You could also try finding a rooftop bar in a less touristy part of Kowloon – the views might not be quite as expansive, but you'll likely have a much more relaxed experience. Just do some research beforehand to find one with a decent view. That's probably your best bet to avoid the insane crowds.

That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't considered Kowloon – finding a rooftop bar sounds like a much better plan than battling the masses at the Ritz. Victoria Peak is tempting though... sunset views are hard to beat. Might just have to weigh up the crowds versus the potential for epic photos.
