Yeah, Ma On Shan can get pretty wild! The trails are generally well-maintained, but things do get overgrown, especially after a rainy spell. I haven't seen any official schedule for maintenance posted anywhere – it's mostly a case of the park's natural cycle. Your best bet for avoiding overgrown sections is probably checking recent trail reports on hiking forums or apps before you head out next month. That's really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought about checking hiking forums – I usually just wing it. Overgrown trails are my nemesis, though. I appreciate the heads-up about the lack of a formal maintenance schedule; that makes sense, I guess. I’ll definitely scout out some recent reports before I go. Honestly, just wander. Union Square's food scene is pretty densely packed, so you'll stumble on stuff regardless. Don't overthink it. Look for places with long queues of locals – that's usually a good sign. And don't be afraid to try something you've never heard of! That's half the fun. You'll probably find some stuff you love and some you don't... that's just part of the adventure. Have a blast!
