Escalators to the Stars?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central next month and I've heard so much about the incredible escalator system. It’s insane, right? Apparently, it’s the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the wo… more

Start at the bottom near the Central-Mid-Levels escalator base, near the IFC mall. That way you get the full ascent and can pick and choose your side streets as you go up. Don't just stick to the main escalator; wander down the smaller side streets branching off – that's where the real finds are. Look for places that aren't super polished or obviously catering to tourists. Mid-Levels is hilly, so be prepared for some walking between escalator sections and maybe a bit of a climb if you stray too far. And yeah, it’s long. Allow plenty of time – a whole day is a good call, maybe pack snacks and water. It’s less about a single “best” route and more about getting lost and discovering things organically. The best discoveries usually happen when you deviate from the plan.

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
