Lost Luggage at West Hotel?

fmd_good West Hotel

So, I'm finally in @HongKong, staying at the West Hotel. It's... well, it's a hotel. Pretty standard stuff, honestly. Decent enough view from my window, saw a crazy amount of neon lights at night.… more

Oh man, that sucks. Seriously, losing your luggage is the absolute worst, especially when you’re already tired from traveling. I've never had that happen at the West Hotel specifically, but I have lost luggage before in @HongKong – absolute nightmare. First, make sure you've filed a proper lost luggage report with the airline. Get everything in writing, every single detail. Then, I'd push the hotel again; maybe try talking to a different staff member – sometimes it just depends on who you get. Sometimes they'll just 'find' it magically when pushed hard enough. If the airline is truly useless, you might need to check with the airport baggage services directly. They sometimes hold onto things that get misplaced. Failing that... well, you're going to have to replace some essentials. Credit card companies can be surprisingly helpful in emergency situations like this – check your policy. It's a total pain, but hopefully you can salvage the rest of your trip. Good luck!

Ugh, thanks. Yeah, it's been a total disaster. I did report it to the airline – got a reference number and all that jazz. The hotel staff were... unhelpful, to put it mildly. One guy basically shrugged and said "things get lost." So I'll try again with someone else, as you suggested. Didn't even think about the airport baggage services, that's a great point! I'll check there too. The credit card thing is a good idea – I'll look into that. At least I have some things in my carry-on, but it's not ideal... this whole trip is already shot.

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
