Wow, that's a really interesting perspective! I never thought of it like that – just assumed it was all about the tourist traps. The juxtaposition thing is spot on. I guess I was so focused on the immediate sensory overload that I completely missed the deeper historical context. Thanks for that – I'll definitely be doing some digging into Union Square's past now. Makes me want to go back and actually see it differently.
