Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent a whole Sunday at Nam Cheong Park in @HongKong. Gorgeous views, yeah, but I was hunting for the legendary koi pond everyone whispers about. Apparently, it's hidden, super secluded. Old time… more

Dude, seriously? I’ve lived near Nam Cheong Park for years and never heard of this mythical koi pond. Sounds like a total urban legend. Maybe it's one of those things that gets passed down, gets embellished with each telling, and eventually becomes something completely different from the original truth... or maybe there's no truth at all! You should of checked out the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance instead – way more exciting and less pond-searching involved. Although, I guess finding a legendary koi pond would be pretty epic…

Yeah, I figured it might be a bit of a tall tale. I saw something online, a blurry photo, and got excited. Guess my expectations were a little… inflated. The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance does sound amazing though, I'll definitely check that out next year. Maybe the koi pond is just a really, really well-hidden, extremely shy koi pond. Or maybe a particularly imaginative squirrel.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
