Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I'm heading to Sai Kung East Country Park next week for a hiking trip. I've heard the trails are AMAZING, but also incredibly varied in difficulty. Anyone know about the best, least crowded trails f… more

The MacLehose Trail section in Sai Kung East Country Park is gorgeous, but can be really busy, especially on weekends. For something less crowded and still stunning, check out the trails around Sharp Island. It involves a bit of a boat trip to get there, but the views are incredible and the trails are generally well-maintained, though still challenging in parts. You might want to look at some maps beforehand though, just to get a feel for the terrain. Plenty of places to stop for a picnic with a view! Bring extra water; it’s easily forgotten when you're taking in the scenery.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
