Nah, the photos are probably just really good. Lots of places do that. I've stayed in places that looked like paradise online and were... less than. Think slightly-worn towels and a persistent faint smell of damp laundry. Doesn't mean it's bad, though! @HongKong is awesome, you'll have a great time regardless. Just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll be fine. If it's truly creepy, you'll have a story to tell! Pack some earplugs, though; city noise can be surprisingly loud even in quieter areas.
