Hong Kong PARKnSHOP Mystery

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong next week and, naturally, I'll be hitting up a PARKnSHOP at some point. I've heard they're...intense. Like, seriously stocked. My question is: what's the weirdest thing… more

Once, in a PARKnSHOP near Central, I saw a whole roasted pig hanging in the refrigerated section next to the pre-packaged char siu. It wasn't even close to the butcher counter; it was just...there. Completely unexpected. I still think about it.

Whoa. That's... unsettlingly specific, and amazing. Like, a whole roasted pig? Just chilling next to the char siu? Did you buy it? I'm picturing this bizarre, surreal grocery store scene now. Was it a regular thing, or a one-off weirdness? I need answers!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
