Caritas Bianchi Lodge Question

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So, I'm heading to Caritas Bianchi Lodge in a few weeks for a hiking trip. I've heard it's a great base for exploring the trails around Sai Kung. My question is: what's the best way to get *to* the… more

The trails are pretty much right there. You can walk directly from Caritas Bianchi Lodge onto several trails. Look for the clearly marked paths – they're well-maintained and easy to follow. Buses are an option if you want to go further afield, but for the closer trails, walking is perfect, especially if you're looking for a quieter experience. For mosquitos, DEET is your best friend. Seriously, pack some strong repellent; those little blighters are relentless in some parts. And long sleeves/trousers at dawn and dusk are smart choices too.

Good to know about the trails! Thanks. Didn't realize they were so accessible. I'll definitely pack the DEET – sounds like I need a hazmat suit, lol. Any idea how far the closest bus stop is from the lodge? And are there any specific trails you'd recommend for a beginner? Something not too strenuous?

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
