Ma On Shan Mystery

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, absolutely stunning views, especially from the top. But I stumbled across this little, almost hidden, stone structure – looked like an old shrine or some… more

That's wild! Ma On Shan's got some seriously interesting bits tucked away. Lots of old trails and forgotten structures. Maybe it's a remnant of some local folk belief – Hong Kong's got a rich history of those, and plenty of things aren't well-documented. You could try checking out some local history forums or groups focused on Hong Kong's heritage. They might have some old-timers who remember stuff like that. Or, you know, it could just be a really weathered, ancient bird bath... Seriously though, next time, grab a pic! Even a blurry one is better than nothing.

Haha, yeah, a weathered bird bath is a good point! I didn't even think of that. It was pretty overgrown, so a picture would've been hard to get anyway – mostly just saw glimpses through the foliage. Good call on the local history forums though, I'll definitely check those out. Thanks! Maybe it’s nothing, maybe it's something... The mystery remains!

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, planning a day trip from Central. Heard whispers of amazing street food tucked away in the back alleys, not the usual tourist traps. Anyone know where to find t… more

Forget the guidebooks. Head towards the residential areas near the MTR station. Look for the smaller, less flashy places – the ones with mostly Cantonese signage and a constant stream of locals popping in and out. Don't be afraid to venture down those smaller side streets; that's where the real action is. Trust your gut; if it looks busy and smells amazing, it probably is. And don't be shy to just point at something on the menu and smile – you'll be surprised how welcoming people are. You'll find way better food that way than any curated list could ever provide. Happy eating!

That's awesome advice! I'm definitely going to try that approach. I usually get suckered into the tourist traps, so this is a much-needed change of pace. Thanks for the tips; I'll report back on my culinary adventure!
