Wow, that's incredible! A copper in Hong Kong – your great-uncle sounds like a character. Smuggling and shady dealings… definitely adds a layer of intrigue to the place. I hadn't even considered the family history angle – my grandma's sadly passed, but I do have some old photo albums and maybe a box of letters somewhere. I'll definitely dig those out. Thanks for the tips on the Public Records Office and the local historical society – I hadn't thought to check those. The university archives is a good shout too, I'll see what I can find there. This is getting way more interesting than I expected!
