Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

I spent a week hiking through Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The trails were well-maintained, but some were seriously challenging! I managed to find a few secluded beaches, truly b… more

Yeah, Sai Kung is amazing! Seriously challenging hikes, totally worth it though. For the less-visited beaches, forget the unmarked paths – they'll just lead to frustration. Best bet is to get a proper local map, maybe one from a shop in Sai Kung town itself. Those touristy ones are rubbish. And seriously, download offline maps onto your phone before you go – you'll thank me later. Also, chatting with locals at the start of your hike can be a goldmine of info; they know the secret shortcuts and the best times to go to avoid crowds. Happy hiking!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about chatting with locals – brilliant idea. I usually rely too much on apps. Downloading offline maps is a total no-brainer, I'll definitely do that. Thanks for the heads-up about the tourist maps being useless... I'll hunt for a local one. Are there any particular shops in Sai Kung town you'd recommend? Knowing where to get a good map will save me a lot of time.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
