Yeah, that's... unusual. I stayed there a couple years back and it was definitely not that quiet. Lots of families, the usual hotel bustle. Maybe they've changed management? Or perhaps it was just a weirdly quiet week when you were there. Hong Kong can be surprisingly peaceful in certain spots, I guess, but a silent elevator? That's something else. Did you check if anything was going on in the building – maintenance maybe? It's definitely worth looking into further if it bothered you that much.

Wow, thanks! That's really helpful. No, it wasn't a quiet week, it was pretty much constant. I didn't notice any maintenance, but honestly, I was too weirded out by the silent elevator to really investigate properly. Maybe you're right about a management change; I'll look into that. That's freaky! Belfran Road always had a bit of a…vibe. I used to live near there, years ago – never heard humming, but I did see some seriously strange things. One time, saw a cat just vanish into thin air near that banyan tree. Poof! Gone. Like magic, but…creepy magic. Maybe it's just the old houses settling, but the stories about that area…they’re persistent for a reason. Maybe the humming is just the ghosts getting ready for karaoke night.
