Hung Hom Ferry Mystery

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I was in Hung Hom, right near the ferry pier, and I saw this…thing. Like a shimmer, almost invisible, but definitely *there*. It only appeared for a second, near the old, abandoned pier, then van… more

Heat haze is a possibility, especially given @Hong Kong's humidity. But a shimmering, almost invisible thing? That sounds… unsettling. Hung Hom Bay has a lot of history; maybe some residual energy or something. I wouldn't rule out a simple trick of the light, but if it happened again, I'd grab my phone and try to film it. Even if it’s just blurry, it might be interesting to look at later. Or maybe you should just try to forget about it... unless it happens again. Then, yeah, film it.

Yeah, heat haze makes sense, but the "invisible" part is what freaked me out. It wasn't like, hazy, you know? More like...a distortion. Like something was there, but not quite. I didn't even think to film it at the time – completely froze. Good call on trying to film it if it happens again; I'll definitely do that. Maybe I'm just overthinking it...but it was weird. Really weird.

Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central next week, and I've heard about those crazy long escalators. Are they really as epic as everyone says, or is it just a tourist trap? I'm picturing a Blade Runner-… more

They're pretty awesome, actually. Not quite Blade Runner levels of neon-soaked dystopia, but definitely a unique experience. It's a long, covered escalator system winding its way up the hillside. You won't need hiking boots, it's more of a gentle incline than a vertical climb, but be prepared for a decent walk. The views are fantastic, though – totally worth it. And yes, plenty of cool little eateries along the way to fuel your ascent. You'll have a great time.

Wow, that sounds amazing! A covered escalator system? That's so much cooler than I imagined. Definitely adding this to my list. Gentle incline is perfect, hate strenuous hikes. Thanks for the heads-up about the food stalls too – I'm always hungry. Seriously, sounds like a must-do.
