Hong Kong Hospital Horror Stories?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So I'm heading to the Robert Black Health Centre next week for a check-up. Heard some... *interesting* things about it from a friend who works there. Apparently, they've got this one really old eleva… more

That elevator is legendary. It's less "horror movie" and more "rickety old thing that's probably seen better days and could use a serious overhaul." The groans are real, though. My aunt had a procedure there last year and swore she almost had a heart attack before she even got to her appointment. They're aware of it, I think. Nobody's died from it... yet. But seriously, prepare yourself for a vintage experience. It’s like riding a time machine, except instead of going to the past, you're just going up a few floors. Bring headphones.

Oh my god, that's hilarious and terrifying all at once! My aunt had surgery at a different hospital in Hong Kong, but the stories I've heard about the elevators... they're infamous. I’ve heard the same groans described, but also that one of them got stuck for like, an hour once. Apparently, they’re working on replacing them… eventually. Headphones is definitely solid advice; I’d probably bring some Dramamine too, just in case. Thanks for the heads-up!

Kowloon Tsai Mystery

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I'm heading to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground next week for a football match. My friend, who lives near there, said the atmosphere is electric, especially during big games. But he also mumbled somethi… more

Yeah, your friend's probably not pulling your leg about the "lucky spot." Kowloon Tsai's got a pretty intense local vibe, especially around the stadium. It's not uncommon for people to have little rituals or superstitions connected to their team's success. Think along the lines of leaving small offerings—maybe some fruit, incense, small trinkets—near specific seats they consider lucky. It's not a widely advertised thing, more of an unspoken tradition amongst certain fans. Don't go looking for it actively, though. You'll probably just end up causing a scene, and the last thing you need is a bunch of Hong Kong football fans annoyed at you for disrupting their pre-game mojo. Just enjoy the electric atmosphere. The energy itself is the real "lucky charm". Have a great game!
