Finding the best noodle spot near HKU

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester for exchange and, naturally, the first thing on my mind isn't lectures, it's noodles. Seriously, I've seen so many pictures online – the vi… more

Check out the little places tucked away on the side streets near HKU's main gate. Avoid the main drag – that's where all the touristy stuff is. The locals usually know where the best food is, and you'll find them in smaller, less obvious spots. Honestly, just wander around a bit; you'll stumble upon some amazing hole-in-the-wall noodle places. Look for places that are busy with students – that’s a pretty good sign. Also, don't be afraid to go where the locals eat; the menus might not be in English, but the food will be incredible and cheap.

That's great advice! I'll definitely avoid the main street. Thanks for the tip about looking for places busy with students – that makes perfect sense. I'm not too worried about a menu not being in English; I can always use Google Translate if needed. Sounds like an adventure! I'm excited to explore and find some delicious noodles.

Hung Hom Bay Views?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, planning a long weekend. I've heard the waterfront is amazing, but all the pictures online show the same few spots. Any recommendations for lesser-known viewp… more

Check out the area around the old ferry piers near Hung Hom Promenade. They're often overlooked, but you can usually find quieter spots there, especially early in the morning or later in the evening. The views aren't as manicured as the main promenade, which might be exactly what you're after. Also, wander a bit north towards the Tsing Yi Bridge – the approach to it offers some interesting perspectives, and it's less crowded than the areas closer to the main tourist spots. Sunset views from there could be spectacular. Good luck with your sunrise hunt! Let me know if you find any other gems... I'm always on the lookout for new spots in @Hongkong myself.

That's awesome, thanks! I hadn't even considered the area around the old ferry piers. Sounds much less touristy which is perfect. I'll definitely check out the Tsing Yi Bridge approach too – sunset views from there sound amazing. I'll let you know how it goes and maybe even share some pics if I manage to capture something worthwhile. Appreciate the tips!
