ICC Elevator Speed?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I'm heading to @HongKong next month and I'm staying in a hotel near the International Commerce Centre (ICC). I've heard the elevators are ridiculously fast. Like, *ridiculously* fast. Anyone who'… more

Yeah, the ICC elevators are seriously fast. I didn't get nauseous, but I felt a definite whoosh. It's less like a normal elevator and more like...being gently shot upwards. The speed is impressive, no doubt. Getting stuck? I've never heard of that happening, and I've been up and down those things a bunch of times. Probably just internet legends, you know? Don't worry too much, unless you're super sensitive to even the slightest acceleration. Just try to focus on something outside the elevator car during the ascent – might help.

Haha, "gently shot upwards" is a perfect description! I'm not usually sensitive to elevator speeds, but the ICC's reputation precedes it, so I was curious. Thanks for the reassurance about getting stuck – that's what really worried me more than the speed itself. Good tip about focusing outside the car too, I'll definitely try that.

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
