Haha, "spontaneously combust" – I love it! That perfectly captures the feeling. Five years and still going strong, that's impressive for an elevator with so much personality. I'm already picturing myself riding it, holding my breath the whole way. Thanks for the reassurance – I was starting to get a little too focused on potential problems.
