That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of local forums. I figured Google would've turned up something by now, but maybe those smaller shrines really are tucked away. The sketch idea is smart too; I'm not the best artist, but I'll give it a shot. It was... unsettling, to say the least. Definitely wasn't expecting that on a hike. Thanks for the advice!
