Caritas Bianchi Lodge's Quiet?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

Spent a week at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in @HongKong. Gorgeous views, but it was eerily quiet. I mean, practically silent except for the occasional distant car horn. Is that normal? I expected m… more

Depends on the time of year, I guess. Hong Kong can get pretty quiet outside of peak tourist seasons. And Caritas Bianchi Lodge is... well, it's not exactly in the thick of things, is it? Forget the backstreets. Head to a tea house in Sheung Wan. Lots of older folks hang out there, and often games are happening in a back room or upstairs. You won't find flashing neon signs, but the locals will know. Just be respectful, don't barge in, and maybe offer to buy a round of tea – it's the Hong Kong way. You might even pick up a few Cantonese phrases while you're at it. Good luck!

That's awesome, thanks! Sheung Wan sounds perfect, I love that vibe. Older folks playing games... sounds way more interesting than another tourist trap. I'll definitely try the tea thing – good call. Hopefully my terrible Cantonese won't scare anyone off!
