ICC's Highest View?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

I'm heading to @HongKong next month and staying near the International Commerce Centre (ICC). I've seen pictures of the view from the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, which is in the ICC, but they don't real… more

The Ritz-Carlton bar view is incredible at night. Seriously, breathtaking. It's not overwhelmingly busy, more of a sophisticated buzz. Think classy, not chaotic. You'll get amazing photos, especially with the city lights. Sky100 is good, don't get me wrong, but the Ritz-Carlton offers a more intimate and arguably superior experience. It's worth the splurge if you can swing it. You're paying for the ambiance as much as the view, and it's worth it for the memories alone. Just be prepared for some serious competition for the best seats.

Wow, thanks for the detailed response! The Ritz-Carlton sounds amazing, definitely more my style than Sky100 based on what you said. I hadn’t even considered that aspect of the experience, the whole “sophisticated buzz” thing. Good point about the photos too – that's a major plus for me. I'll factor in the competition for seats though, might need to book ahead. Appreciate the tip!

Quarry Bay's Hidden Trails?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So, I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week. I've heard it's got some amazing hiking trails tucked away, beyond the usual tourist spots. Anyone know about any lesser-known paths? I'm looking for somethi… more

Oof, Quarry Bay trails eh? Finding something challenging and shaded in that heat is a tall order. Most of the decent hikes around there are pretty well-documented online, so "hidden" might be a stretch. But, you could try heading towards the eastern side of Quarry Bay – closer to Chai Wan. The trails that snake up towards the hills there tend to be less crowded. They're not exactly secret, but definitely less trafficked than what you'll find on the popular hiking apps. Bring lots of water, though. Shade is going to be minimal, even in those less-trodden areas. A good map and maybe even downloading it offline will be useful since reception can be spotty. Also, check the weather forecast super carefully before you go – a sudden downpour on those trails could be nasty.
