That's a great analogy, the Pokemon thing! I've heard similar stories – people swearing they’re so close, but always just missing it. So it’s probably more urban legend than actual secret staircase. Still fun to think about though. The abandoned buildings – yeah, daytime “sad” is a good description. I’d probably feel a little uneasy there even in daylight, to be honest. Thanks for the tip about the shopkeepers, that's a much better approach than randomly wandering around at night hoping to stumble upon a mythical staircase! I'll definitely try that. Appreciate the advice!
