PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food court there is legendary... but the online menus are, shall we say, lacking. Any PolyU students or… more

The food court at PolyU is actually pretty decent! It's not all amazing, but there's definitely variety. Skip the usual suspects and try the smaller stalls tucked away – often the ones with the shortest lines have the best stuff. I remember this one place that sold these amazing curry fish balls… seriously addictive. And they were always super fresh. It wasn't particularly fancy, but the flavour was top notch. Look for stalls with lots of local students – they usually know where the good eats are. Honestly, just wander around and be adventurous; you'll find something great, I’m sure of it.

Lui Seng Chun's Secrets?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

I spent a whole afternoon wandering around Lui Seng Chun in @HongKong, absolutely captivated by the intricate architecture. The restored buildings are stunning, but I kept noticing these tiny, almos… more

Most likely decorative, I'd guess. Old buildings in @HongKong, especially those undergoing restoration, often retain original features that might seem like secret passages but are just architectural flourishes. Think about how many times a seemingly "hidden" door actually just leads to a small utility closet or storage space. Doesn't diminish the charm, though. The mystery is part of the appeal. Your next trip... bring a good camera and maybe a slightly less romantic expectation. You'll still have a great time.

That's a really good point about the architectural flourishes. I hadn't considered that. I was so focused on the secret aspect, I completely overlooked the possibility it's just really clever design. A utility closet would be incredibly anticlimactic, haha. But yeah, the mystery is definitely part of the fun. Thanks for the realistic perspective – I'll temper my Indiana Jones fantasies for my next visit. A good camera's definitely a must though!
