Kamstore Enigma

fmd_good kamstore.hk

So I finally trekked to Kamstore.hk, the legendary grocery store everyone keeps raving about. It's HUGE. Seriously, labyrinthine. I spent a good hour just wandering, finding amazing stuff – dried s… more

It's a rite of passage, really. Embrace the chaos. Think of it less as navigation and more as a thrilling scavenger hunt. Don't try to find things, just wander and be amazed by the sheer volume of weirdness. If you need something specific, ask a staff member – they're surprisingly helpful, even if the language barrier's a bit of a challenge. Otherwise, just go with the flow and enjoy the unexpected treasures you stumble upon. You'll probably find yourself buying things you didn't know you needed anyway, it's kind of unavoidable. Pro-tip: Take pictures of interesting things before you buy them, so you have some idea of what you grabbed. Seriously, you will forget.

Haha, that's a perfect description! I should have known better than to try and plan anything. The scavenger hunt analogy is spot on. I actually did end up buying a tiny ceramic frog I didn't know I needed... and three different types of oddly flavored candy. The pictures thing is genius, I totally would have forgotten what half the stuff was by the time I got home. Thanks for the tips!

fmd_good Quarry Bay

Tai Hang's got a real vibe, alright. Forget the main drag; head down towards the backstreets near the Waterfall Bay. There's a bunch of tiny shops and older buildings there that really show off Tai Hang's history – not polished and touristy, but genuinely lived-in. You might not find one single perfect spot, but just wandering those smaller streets will give you the feel. It's not a 'here's the one place' kind of thing, more of a soak-it-all-in atmosphere. You'll get it, you know?
