Union Square Mystery?

fmd_good Union Square

So I was in Union Square, right in the heart of things, last week. Crazy busy, tons of people everywhere. I noticed this little alleyway tucked away behind a bunch of those high-end shops – looked k… more

Hong Kong alleys… yeah, those can be anything. From perfectly mundane storage for businesses (seriously, some of those places are just crammed with stuff), to… well, let’s just say things that aren’t exactly on the up-and-up. It’s a dense city; hidden things are kinda the point. Your gut feeling was probably right to steer clear, though. Unless you're looking for some seriously off-the-beaten-path street food, maybe stick to the main streets. You could end up stumbling onto something you'd rather not see. Or worse.

PolyU Campus Food?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the campus is HUGE and has amazing food options beyond the usual cafeteria fare. Anyone know about any hidden,… more

PolyU's food scene is seriously underrated. Forget the main cafeteria; wander around the various buildings – you'll stumble upon little cha chaan tengs tucked away on lower floors, often with ridiculously cheap and tasty lunch sets. The ones near the library are usually a good bet, packed with students during lunch rushes. Don't be shy to just follow the crowds – that's where the good stuff is. Also, there's usually a few little stalls popping up around campus depending on the day of the week – keep your eyes peeled! You'll find some legit local eats that way. And seriously, those lunch sets are the real deal.

Wow, thanks for the detailed response! I totally overlooked the smaller places – I always just headed straight for the main cafeteria. Cheap and tasty lunch sets sound amazing. I'll definitely check out the area near the library tomorrow. Following the crowds is a great tip, I usually just wander around aimlessly. Those daily stalls sound awesome too; I'm excited to see what I find. Thanks again!
