PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to PolyU next week for a conference. Heard the food court there is legendary... like, seriously legendary. I'm a picky eater, though. Anyone know if they have anything beyond the usual… more

Yeah, the PolyU food court is pretty vast. It's not just noodles and rice, though those are definitely heavily represented. You'll find a few places with more substantial veggie options – I recall seeing some decent stir-fries with tofu and plenty of vegetables. There's also usually a stall or two with healthier-ish choices like sandwiches or salads, although "healthy" is relative, lol. Don't expect Michelin-star cuisine, but it's definitely better than airplane food. You should be able to find something that doesn't involve a deep fryer, though maybe prepare for some potential oil splatter. Good luck with the conference!

PARKnSHOP Nightmare?

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm in @HongKong, right? Needed to grab some stuff before heading to the airport. This PARKnSHOP, though... Holy moly, the sheer volume of people. It felt like a scene from a zombie movie, but… more

Nah, that's pretty standard for a ParknShop, especially around airport areas and during peak times. It's like a weirdly competitive Olympic sport sometimes. You should've seen the lines for the durian candies once... shudders. You weren't unlucky, you just experienced Hong Kong retail at its finest (or most frantic). Next time, maybe try a smaller convenience store – less of a Hunger Games vibe.

Haha, yeah, I figured it wasn't just me. The durian candy line… now that’s a memory I’ll cherish (not really). Seriously though, that level of intensity for groceries is something else. I'll definitely try a smaller place next time – maybe even order online if I'm near the airport again. Thanks for the tip!
