Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the MacLehose Trail through Sai Kung East Country Park last month, absolutely stunning. The views were incredible, especially from Sharp Peak. But I noticed a lot of the smaller, less-traffi… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's got some seriously awesome spots tucked away. Beyond the usual suspects, try checking out Ham Tin Wan – it's a bit of a trek but worth it for the quiet. Also, look into the beaches around the villages near High Island Reservoir; some smaller ones are only accessible by boat or a really gnarly hike, making them much less crowded. The maps can be a bit vague, so talking to some locals at a cha chaan teng in Sai Kung town itself might unearth some good intel. Happy exploring!

That's fantastic advice! Ham Tin Wan sounds perfect – I love a good trek, especially if it leads to a secluded beach. Didn't even think about checking the areas around High Island Reservoir; I'll definitely look into boat options. Thanks for the tip about the cha chaan teng too – I'm always up for a local's perspective. Appreciate the help!

Nam Cheong Park Mystery?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I was in Nam Cheong Park last week, trying to find that rumored hidden koi pond everyone talks about. My grandpa used to tell me stories about it – giant fish, shimmering scales, the whole shebang.… more

My ah ma used to tell me the same stories! Giant koi, bigger than your head... I’ve lived near Nam Cheong Park my whole life and never found it. Honestly, I think it's one of those Hong Kong legends – like the ghost stories they tell about the old abandoned buildings. Great for keeping kids in line, though. Maybe your grandpa embellished a bit? Or maybe it's hidden really well... I'll keep my eyes peeled next time I'm there, though. Good luck!
