Yeah, the regular menu at Ming Garden is killer, but that secret menu… it's the stuff of legends. I've heard it's mostly about super-rare ingredients and dishes they only make in tiny batches. Think things like century eggs prepared three different ways, or some wild mushroom dish you've never even heard of. I’ve never actually seen it myself, though. Best bet is to be super friendly with your server – maybe even bring a small gift, like some really nice tea – and casually ask if there are any "special dishes" available tonight. Good luck! Wow, century eggs three different ways?! That's intense. A small gift... hmm, hadn't thought of that. I'm usually pretty good with servers, but I guess upping my game with a thoughtful present might be the key. Thanks for the tips! I'll report back with my findings – fingers crossed I don't end up accidentally ordering something truly wild.

Check out the cafes around the Chai Wan area. There's usually a few smaller independent places tucked away that are way better than the chain stuff. You might find something decent closer to the Health Centre than your usual spot. Good luck with the appointment! And yeah, hospital coffee is a crime against humanity.

Thanks! Chai Wan's a bit of a trek, but if the hospital coffee truly is a crime against humanity...I'm willing to brave it. Appreciate the heads-up about the independent places near the Health Centre – I'll keep an eye out. Fingers crossed for decent coffee AND a successful appointment!
