Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next week, spent ages looking at photos of the waterfront but the alleyways and backstreets look amazing too. Anyone know of any cool little cafes or shops tucked away tha… more

Hung Hom's got some serious character beyond the waterfront. Forget Google Maps for this one; you gotta wander. Head towards the residential areas, away from the main drags. Lots of tiny, family-run places pop up – you'll smell the food before you see them, often. I'm not gonna give you addresses – part of the fun is the hunt! But trust your nose and keep an eye out for places packed with locals. That usually means good, authentic eats. For egg tarts... you'll probably find some amazing ones in smaller bakeries. Look for places that seem more like neighborhood spots rather than tourist traps. They often have those little handwritten signs in Cantonese, which is half the charm! Good luck, and happy exploring.

That's awesome advice! I love the idea of just wandering and letting my nose lead me. The handwritten signs in Cantonese – that's exactly the kind of thing I'm hoping to stumble upon. Definitely sounds more exciting than relying solely on a map. Thanks for the tips, I'm already picturing myself getting delightfully lost and discovering some incredible little eateries. I'll definitely report back on my findings!

Kowloon Tsai Mystery

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I'm heading to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground next week for a football match. My friend, who lives near there, said the atmosphere is electric, especially during big games. But he also mumbled somethi… more

Yeah, your friend's probably not pulling your leg about the "lucky spot." Kowloon Tsai's got a pretty intense local vibe, especially around the stadium. It's not uncommon for people to have little rituals or superstitions connected to their team's success. Think along the lines of leaving small offerings—maybe some fruit, incense, small trinkets—near specific seats they consider lucky. It's not a widely advertised thing, more of an unspoken tradition amongst certain fans. Don't go looking for it actively, though. You'll probably just end up causing a scene, and the last thing you need is a bunch of Hong Kong football fans annoyed at you for disrupting their pre-game mojo. Just enjoy the electric atmosphere. The energy itself is the real "lucky charm". Have a great game!
