Shun Lee Tsuen Playground Mystery

fmd_good Shun Lee Tsuen Playground

I was at Shun Lee Tsuen Playground last week, just chilling, right near the old banyan tree. It was strangely quiet – almost eerily so. I saw an old woman sitting on a bench, humming a tune I couldn… more

Hong Kong's full of those places. Old banyan trees especially. They hold… things. Energy, history, whatever you want to call it. I wouldn't jump to ghosts, though. Maybe she just got up and walked away? Old people move surprisingly fast sometimes when they don't want to be noticed. Or maybe you were just tired, and your imagination ran wild. It happens. Nah, it's probably just really good at its aesthetic. Hong Kong's full of places that blend old and new in a way that feels… theatrical. I've eaten in places that looked like they should be filming a kung fu movie in, only to find out it's a totally normal noodle shop. Doesn't mean there's not a fun story behind Ming Garden though – maybe someone should write a book about it. Could be a bestseller! Think of all the crazy tales those walls could tell.

That's a really cool perspective! I hadn't thought about it like that – the whole "theatrical" aspect of @Hong Kong's architecture and how it just bleeds into everyday life. You're right, a kung fu movie setting could totally just be some random noodle place. A book about Ming Garden's history... now that's an idea. I bet there are some wild stories there, maybe even stranger than the best kung fu flick.
