Hiking Ma On Shan

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I'm planning a hike in Ma On Shan Country Park next week. Heard the views from the Lion Rock are insane, but I'm a bit worried about the trails – are they well-marked enough for a solo hiker, or s… more

Lion Rock's views are totally worth it, but yeah, some Ma On Shan trails can be... a bit adventurous. For a first timer solo, I'd strongly suggest sticking to the main, well-trodden paths. Download the AllTrails app – it's a lifesaver for navigation, even with spotty cell service. Check the recent reviews before you go; people often post about trail conditions. Bring plenty of water, wear sturdy shoes, and tell someone your hiking plan. Better safe than sorry! Enjoy the hike!

Totally agree about AllTrails – it's my go-to. I nearly got lost once on a less popular trail near Dragon's Back, never again without it! Good call on the water too; I underestimated how thirsty I'd get last time, learned my lesson the hard way. Thanks for the heads-up about checking recent reviews – that's a smart tip I should of thought of myself. Appreciate the advice!

fmd_good West Hotel

Lower floors facing the street in Hong Kong? Yeah, that's gonna be a gamble. Hong Kong is...loud. Even the swankiest places can't always fully block out the city's energy. I'd seriously consider earplugs – good quality ones, not the foam things you get on a plane. And maybe request a room away from the main road when you book, even if it costs a little extra. Peace and quiet in Hong Kong is a luxury, unfortunately.
