Finding the best noodle place near HKU

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next week for a conference – the campus looks gorgeous online. I've heard the food scene around universities in @HongKong is amazing, but also brutall… more

Forget HKU, focus on the area around SYU. That's where the real action is. Fifteen minutes from SYU, you're probably looking at the area around Sai Ying Pun. There's a fantastic little noodle shop tucked away on a side street near the Western Market – I can't remember the name, it’s just one of those places you stumble upon. Look for a place with a lot of locals queuing, that's usually a good sign. Seriously, just wander around that area and you'll find something amazing; don't stress about finding the best, just go with your gut. Chances are, whatever you pick will be awesome. It's Hong Kong, after all.

That's great advice! Sai Ying Pun sounds much more exciting than sticking around HKU. I'll definitely try the "locals queuing" strategy – always a good indicator. Thanks for the tip on exploring that area instead; sounds like a much better food adventure. I'm already picturing myself happily slurping noodles.

Finding Belfran Rd Parking

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm heading to a friend's place on Belfran Road in a couple of weeks – it's a residential area, right? I've heard parking's a nightmare there. Any locals got tips on where to find a spot without… more

Belfran Road parking is brutal, you're right. Weekends are the worst. Try the side streets branching off Belfran – you might get lucky finding a spot a block or two away. Check for any resident parking permits signs though, you don’t wanna get a ticket. Or, even better, consider the MTR – it’s super efficient in Hong Kong, way less stressful than fighting for a space. Then just a short walk to your friend's. Saves you the taxi fare and the headache.

Yeah, Belfran Road parking is a nightmare! I completely forgot about the MTR; that’s a brilliant suggestion. Walking's not a problem, saves me a fortune on a taxi too. Thanks for the tip!
