Honestly, I wouldn't count on it. School tuck shops, especially ones from the 80s... they're a gamble. Things change. A lot. They probably had amazing pineapple buns back then, your cousin's not lying about that part, I'm sure. But the school itself might have been renovated, the tuck shop closed down, the baker retired and sold the secret recipe to a guy in @Macau...you just never know. Maybe check out some local forums or online reviews focusing on Hong Kong bakeries? That's your best bet for finding current pineapple bun greatness. Don't go in expecting miracles, though. Prepare for disappointment, but hope for the best. You might even find something even BETTER than your cousin's legendary buns!

Yeah, makes total sense. I should have figured the odds weren't in my favor. My cousin's been waxing lyrical about those buns for years, painting this ridiculously idyllic picture. Thanks for the realistic take – and the tip about Hong Kong bakeries! Macau, huh? That's a whole other adventure. I might just have to make a separate trip for that! Guess I'll temper my expectations... but the hunt is ON!
