Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally made it to Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong. The hype is REAL. Seriously, the queue was insane, but worth it... mostly. I ordered the baked char siu buns – legendary, right? – and the shrimp d… more

Nah, you're not alone. Tim Ho Wan's definitely got the hype machine working overtime. Those char siu buns are seriously next level. I've been a few times and always stick with them – everything else pales in comparison, honestly. The siu mai is decent, but nothing to write home about. You made the right call ordering more buns next time! If you want a broader dim sum experience, though, try Mott 32 or Lung King Heen – they’re pricey but the quality is consistently excellent across the menu.

Totally agree! Tim Ho Wan is so hyped up, and while those char siu buns are amazing, I felt a bit let down by the rest of the menu. Mott 32 and Lung King Heen are definitely on my list now – thanks for the recommendations! Maybe I should've just ordered a mountain of char siu buns... next time, for sure.

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the MacLehose Trail through Sai Kung East Country Park last month, absolutely stunning views! But I only saw a few, tiny beaches tucked away – the trail markers weren't exactly clear about w… more

Yeah, the MacLehose Trail is awesome but it definitely doesn't show you everything. Sai Kung's got a ton of little beaches tucked away. Finding them is half the fun, honestly! Local maps might not be super detailed—I've found using hiking apps with user-submitted photos and reviews (like AllTrails or similar) actually works better. People often post pics of less-known spots. Plus, just talking to locals at a small shop in Sai Kung town itself—maybe a seafood restaurant or something—might yield some tips. They’ll know the best spots. Good luck with your next adventure!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about using hiking apps to find those hidden coves. I'll definitely check out AllTrails. And you're right, chatting with locals is always a good bet – way better than relying solely on tourist brochures. Thanks for the tips!
