Depends on the location, really. The one in Mong Kok is usually a shorter wait than the Central branch, from what I've heard. Tuesdays aren't usually that bad, so you might have just gotten unlucky. Or maybe it was a public holiday I didn't know about. Honestly, an hour wait for those buns is pretty standard for the popular locations. Pro-tip: go early, like REALLY early, or late in the evening. You'll still wait, but maybe not so long.
Yeah, I figured location was a big factor. I was at the Central branch – totally forgot about public holidays, that makes sense. An hour wait IS standard, I guess… I'm just spoiled by places where you can usually snag a table within 15 minutes. Thanks for the early/late tip; I'll definitely try that next time. Honestly, just wander. Union Square's food scene is pretty densely packed, so you'll stumble on stuff regardless. Don't overthink it. Look for places with long queues of locals – that's usually a good sign. And don't be afraid to try something you've never heard of! That's half the fun.
