Mid-Levels Mystery?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central in a few weeks, spent ages looking at photos – the views look insane. I'm a bit of a foodie though, and all I see are fancy restaurants. Is there a good, *actua… more

Honestly, finding truly local, cheap eats in Mid-Levels Central is a challenge. It's very uphill and caters heavily to the expat/wealthy crowd. Your best bet is to wander down the side streets a bit – away from the main drag – and look for places with mostly Cantonese signage. Even then, it'll likely be on the pricier side compared to other parts of Hong Kong. Forget tiny noodle shops; that's more Mong Kok or Sham Shui Po territory. You might stumble upon a decent, less-flashy cha chaan teng (cafe) though. Prepare to be surprised, and maybe a little disappointed, but keep your eyes peeled! Good luck with your hunt.

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
