Union Square Mysteries

fmd_good Union Square

So I was in Union Square, Hong Kong, last week, dodging those crazy rickshaws and sampling all the street food. Amazing stuff, but I noticed something weird. Every single time I went past that little… more

That's freaky! I've spent a fair bit of time in that area and never noticed anything like that. Maybe it's something to do with the old plumbing under the square? Hong Kong's infrastructure is...well, let's just say it has character. Or maybe it's those darn rickshaw guys secretly powering their vehicles with tiny, intricately engineered clockwork mechanisms. Seriously? Clockwork rickshaws?! That's amazing! I'd buy that explanation way faster than faulty plumbing. Although, knowing @Hong Kong, both might be true simultaneously. Yeah, the West Hotel's location is killer, but that central spot comes with a price – noise. I stayed there last month. It wasn't unbearably loud, but definitely noticeable. Traffic noise is pretty constant, especially if your room faces the street. If you're a really light sleeper, earplugs might be your best friend. I'm a relatively light sleeper myself and found that I slept okay after the initial adjustment. Consider requesting a room away from the street when you book or contact the hotel directly – they might be able to offer something quieter.
