HKShueYan Uni Food?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next week for a conference. Heard the campus is pretty but what's the food scene like around there? Any hidden local spots students frequent that aren't… more

The food around HKU is pretty decent, honestly. Lots of little hole-in-the-wall places catering to students, so you'll find plenty that aren't going to break the bank. It's not exactly Michelin-star stuff, but it's tasty and authentic. Walk around a bit; you’ll stumble upon some great cha chaan tengs (茶餐廳) – those are classic Hong Kong-style cafes. They're everywhere, and the food's usually pretty good and cheap. Avoid anything that looks too flashy or touristy. The smaller, more local-looking places are usually the better bet. You should be fine just exploring the area near the university itself. Enjoy your conference!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
